What is the best way to prepare interview questions?
What will be an ideal response?
After you do some serious research, you should sketch out your questions. The questions can be used to confirm information (see the breakout box on improving interviewing), troll for quotes, or fill in gaps within your research. You need a general sense of what you want to get from the interview and why that information will matter to your readers. You should come up with four or five primary questions that will serve as the skeletal structure of your interview. These will give the source a clear understanding as to what you are going to cover and how you are going to approach the topic. This also will prevent you from missing key points as you go. You can always ask follow-up questions as they arise, but these primary questions can provide you with a good foundation for the interview.
