Discuss the significance of Etruscan civilization.

What will be an ideal response?

Rome adopted many features of Etruscan civilization. These ranged from architecture, such as the use of the arch and the grid system of urban design, to social elements, such as the status of women. Little is known about Etruscan civilization as its writing has yet to be deciphered. However, certain features of Etruscan culture have been gleaned from burial sites, such as their sophisticated method of pottery and their far-flung trade in the Mediterranean. Most of what we know about the Etruscans comes from the sculptures and paintings that have survived in tombs. Women evidently played a far more important role in Etruscan culture than in Greek, and Roman culture would later reflect the Etruscan sense of women’s equality.
