What is informative speaking? Provide an example of an informative speech. Then, explain the difference between informative and persuasive speaking?
What will be an ideal response?
Informative speaking is any presentation where the main goal is to inform, impart knowledge or information, to demonstrate, or educate the audience. For example, I might give an informative speech on how to construct a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or on the history of the Golden Gate Bridge.
On the other hand, the goal of a persuasive speech is to persuade or convince. Therefore, informative speakers likely have an opinion about the topic they are educating about, but the main objective is to share information, not to convince the audience that the speaker's opinion or perspective is correct.
