Some friends may approach you for "free medical advice." You should use caution when advising a friend because it is illegal for someone who is not a physician to diagnose and prescribe. Although it might be appropriate to give a friend general information, such as explaining the meaning of a medical term, diagnosis and treatment should be left to your friend's physician.
