What is a normal curve? Why are normal curves important for inferential statistics?
What will be an ideal response?
In a normal curve or distribution, a predictable proportion of cases fall within certain ranges, most falling at the center with outliers at each end; inferential statistics takes advantage of this and allows researchers to estimate how likely it is that, given a particular sample, the true population value will be within some range of the statistic.
