A professional association is a formal organization that represents the interests of a group of professionals, such as user support workers.  These organizations publish journals, offer books, seminars and conferences, encourage the professional growth and development of its members, and may offer certification programs.  Some provide a code of ethical behavior to guide its member's professional activities.
