Choose one prenatal period and provide a detailed overview of what happens. Include when it occurs

What will be an ideal response?

The germinal period (0- 2 wks. After conception) includes the formation of the zygote, rapid cell division forming a 100-celled blastocyst, and implantation. The outer layer of the blastocyst, the trophoblast, develops into the structures that will house and nourish the embryo (amnion, placental, umbilical cord). The inner layer becomes the embryonic disk, which eventually forms the embryo.
