Name the three components of a suspension. After each, describe it fully.
What will be an ideal response?
1. Preparation. Must be a chord tone and can appear in any voice.
2. Suspension. Must be in the same voice and on the same line or space as the preparation note. Usually appears on a strong beat.
3. Resolution. Must be in the same voice as the preparation and suspension. Resolves stepwise down.
