Describe selective exposure and its consequences in American politics.
What will be an ideal response?
Selective exposure occurs when citizens choose to hear only their own side of an issue. While the Internet and the rise of the partisan press has made it easier to consciously avoid opposing points of view, which would be concerning for the well-being of an informed and respecting democracy, most people still get their news from mainstream, centrist sources.
