Discuss the organizational culture-as-variable perspective

What will be an ideal response?

The organizational culture as a variable perspective views culture as something
the organization has (Smircich, 1983). Organizational culture is a by-product of
organizational activities; as organizations produce goods and services, they also produce
cultural artifacts, such as stories, rites and rituals, and heroes. Organizational culture,
from this perspective, is likened to other influential elements in the organization, such as
the organizational structure, the performance-appraisal system, or the formal
organizational policies.
