Compare and contrast Erikson's stages of identity versus role confusion with generativity versus stagnation
What will be an ideal response?
Though Erikson's stage of identity versus role confusion is primarily associated with
the identity crisis of adolescence, Erikson acknowledged that identity could be a
lifelong process. Generativity and stagnation is the stage associated with adulthood
and the need to care for the next generation. Generativity, unselfish caring for
others, may be observed in adolescents just as the search for identity as life
circumstances change may occur in adulthood.
