What do designers do to prepare for production meetings and to create a production concept and design? Choose one of the plays you have read and select one area of design. How would you go about developing a design concept for that particular play? What would be some of the factors you would keep in mind?

What will be an ideal response?

Designers begin by studying the script, learning about the characters, investigating the location and historical period, and considering practical questions of mechanics, budget, and deadlines, to name a few. All of this research prepares them for the production meeting.
