Define a gingival abscess

What will be an ideal response?

A gingival abscess forms in the marginal gingiva or interdental gingiva as a result of lodging of foreign objects such as popcorn kernels or fish bones. It is a localized, painful infection that usually occurs in a previously disease-free area. Bone loss is not a sequela. The surface will appear red and edematous and when a probe is taken slightly subgingivally, pus may extrude.
