Regarding physical changes in the brain and cognitive functioning: how do middle-aged adults compare to young adults? What are some factors that contribute to differences and/or similarities?

What will be an ideal response?

The middle-aged brain functions, for the most part, just as well as the young adult brain, especially on tasks requiring attention, concentration, and rapid judgment. The factor that makes the difference is secondary aging, most of which would result in CVD, which decreases blood flow to critical areas of the brain.
