Alignment is aligning type to an imaginary vertical axis. Options include flush left/ragged right, where lines of type are aligned to a left vertical axis; flush right/ragged left, where lines of type are aligned to a right vertical axis; justified, where lines of type are aligned to both left and right axes; and centered, where lines of type are centered on a central vertical axis.
