Once you have made a selection, you can click the Refine Edge button on the options bar to further refine the selection. Using Refine Edge, you can better see if you have picked up any unwanted pixels in your selection, and you can fine-tune the selection. Clicking Refine Edge opens the Refine Edge dialog box, which shows your selection against a white background by default. You can change the View Mode to a black background or another option depending on the colors of the selection. You can also adjust edge settings, such as Smooth, Feather, and Contrast, and you can shift the edge to expand the selection or contract it.
