Romanticists often investigated relationships between the arts and literature, frequently exploring multiple arts areas themselves. What commonalities in these areas would have intrigued intellectuals to explore across disciplines?

What will be an ideal response?

Romantic art, music and literature all allowed individuals to express large societal ideals that emerged during the nineteenth century, such as the focus on the individual, and the struggle of humans versus nature. The emotion-laden Romantic era lent itself to bold, colorful expression that could be achieved via sound or sight. Arts areas were sometimes combined in this era. Romantic poetry provided the perfect texts for songwriters to set to music, for example.
In addition, there are aesthetic links between the various arts. For example, the flowing sound of poetry can be linked to flowing musical sounds and blurred lines in visual art.
