Discuss Noh drama and its relationship to Zen Buddhist attitudes and beliefs

What will be an ideal response?

The Buddhist value of seeing beyond everyday reality into the farther reaches of existence is embodied in Noh. The non-verbal elements of the drama such as the chorus, wind instruments and drums, the hero's mask with shut eyes to signify blindness, all tie together for the total effect. The word noh means "accomplishment" and it refers to the virtuoso performance of the drama's main character, whose inner conflicts must be resolved before his or her soul can find peace.
