How would you instruct a client to use the hydrotherapy facilities of the spa or health club during his or her visit there for a massage session?
Include the timing relative to the massage, the amount of time to stay in them, and other safety precautions. Limit to two different types of facilities.
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: I would instruct the client that the hydrotherapy facilities are best used before the massage. That would begin the relaxation process. For thermotherapies like steam room and whirlpool, I would recommend that the client shower before using the facilities and limit use to 10-30 minutes (depending on age and general health). I would also suggest that the client not eat for at least 30 minutes before using the facilities and drink plenty of liquids before, during, and after. Before I give a massage, I would be sure that the client felt well, was cooled down, and had been drinking water.
