Identify and give examples of two ways to improve nonverbal communication skills

Please provide the best answer for the best statement.

Answer: Generally, you can improve your comprehension of nonverbal messages by analyzing the context of the situation, your knowledge of the other person, and your own experiences. For example, playfully punching a friend on the arm may be seen as fine, but doing the same to a coworker, even if still playful, may be misconstrued and seen as uncomfortable and inappropriate. One suggestion to help improve skills would be to recognize that others’ nonverbal messages don’t always mean the same as yours. For example, a raised eyebrow from someone could be a sign of further interest in a person or story, whereas someone else may see it as a sign of incredulity. A second suggestion would be not to place too much emphasis on fleeting nonverbal behaviors such as facial expression or vocal tone; rather, examine the entire set of nonverbal behaviors. Again, a raised eyebrow could be taken multiple ways. If paired with a shocked gasp during a story, it may be a sign of interest. If paired with a shake of the head, it could mean disbelief. Together, the signals create the meaning and watching for a combination of communicative signals helpsprevent snap judgments.
