Explain what a digital watermark is and how it's used with data.

What will be an ideal response?

In addition to steganography, digital watermarking was developed as a way to protect ?le ownership. Some digital watermarks are designed to be visible-for example, to notify users that an image is copyrighted. The digital watermarks used for steganography aren't usually visible. For example, when viewing two ?les that look the same, but one has an invisible digital watermarking, they appear to be the same ?le. Their ?le sizes might even be identical. However, if you run an MD5 or SHA-1 hash comparison on both ?les, you'll ?nd that the hash values aren't equal. ?
