first stage of syncope is presyncope. The signs and symptoms of presyncope include pale skin, cold sweat, and complaints of being hot, dizzy, or nauseated. The vital signs during presyncope include a slight decrease in blood pressure and a very rapid increase in pulse.
Immediately before entering the syncope stage, the patient will experience a rapid drop in both blood pressure and pulse rate. During syncope, the patient will exhibit a deathlike appearance: their breathing may be shallow and gasping, slight convulsive movements may be present, and pupils will be dilated. Vital signs monitored at this time will include a very low blood pressure and a slow and thready pulse.
