Brief the steps involved in the creation of a functional decomposition chart.

What will be an ideal response?

Functional decomposition is a frequently used technique to define the scope of an information system by identifying the business processes it will affect. To create the functional decomposition chart, begin with the name of the system and then identify the highest-level processes to be performed. Each process should be given a two-word “verb-subject” name that clearly defines the process. Next, break those high-level processes down into lower-level subprocesses. Typically, three or four levels of decomposition are sufficient to define the scope of the system.
