Why is it difficult for Nielsen and other companies to accurately record ratings for television programs??

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER:
The accuracy and validity of ratings is a growing concern. Only about a quarter of all the homes contacted participate in diary, and viewers in people meter homes, especially young children, tire of pushing buttons during the 2 years they remain in the sample. Measuring viewership across television, personal computer, tablet, and smartphone screens is a challenge. Nielsen now provides ratings of individual commercials as well as the TV shows they appear in and includes delayed digital video recorder (DVR) playbacks in its data.
