If you wanted to distort information or mislead individuals as to the nature of your perceptions, you could do so easily via the Internet and chat room sessions. Communication with others, such as that
in email, also creates perceptions that are interpreted by others. As generators of perceptions who
are disconnected from receivers, we must be aware of the manner in which we ourselves can create
inferences and interpretations of others' perceptions and of our own simultaneously. It is important
to remember that information attained via the Internet is only as reliable as the creator of the
information, a reliance that is typically unverifiable.
