How does the prevalence of drug abuse in emerging adulthood compare to that in other periods? Discuss three factors that contribute to the likelihood of drug use in emerging adulthood

What will be an ideal response?

Young adulthood is the most common period for drug use and drug abuse. Answers
for contributing factors will vary. The stressful transitions of the early adult period
(e.g., the need to establish a residence of one's own, make career decisions, achieve
intimacy, etc.) are discussed in this chapter. Living away from home, frequenting bars
and large parties, living in an urban area, not being religiously involved, failing to
seek medical advice, and being single are among the factors that correlate with drug
abuse in early adulthood.
