What is an advantage of using a strengths model of treatment planning? What is a disadvantage?
In this model the consumer is empowered to set goals based on what he or she has identified as the interests that he or she wishes to pursue, working together with the interviewer to come up with a mutual plan to achieve the goals. The disadvantage is that the extent of illness may require a more structured approach, which would require modifications to the strength model that would necessitate increased intervention by the interviewer to set the goals to achieve stabilization of the consumer's condition to be discharged to the community.
