What should be done to treat this condition?

A 35-year-old diabetic female presents with a positive medical history. She is an insulin dependent diabetic. Her treatment for today is an amalgam restoration. The dental auxiliary reviews the medical history and finds that she is a type I diabetic taking daily injections of insulin. The patient rushes into the office slightly late for her appointment. She reports that she was in such a hurry she did not get a chance to eat lunch. As the appointment begins, she breaks out in a cold sweat and appears very nervous. When the dentist questions her, she seems confused.
