Explain the relationship between intentional behavior and SIDS

One theory about the cause of SIDS is that infants change from reflexive breathing and behavior to intentional behavior around 2-4 months of age. Perhaps some infants lose the reflex to gag, breathe or push something away, but do not have the intentional cognition to act.
