Discuss the long-term approach to health promotion within context of the social ecological model

Social ecological model-based programming is a long-term approach to population health and involves the work of many researchers and practitioners. Implementing multilevel interventions takes time to gather an understanding of the various factors that influence behavior and then implement strategies of change on the various levels of influence. With both physical activity and tobacco, understanding of the behavior grew by levels of understanding, starting with what motivates people. From there, understanding about networks, places, and systems has grown, but deep understanding takes time. For example, tobacco control studies have been in place for over 50 years and continue today. Similarly, work on identifying the outer levels of environmental influence on physical activity began 10 years ago and is now entering a third phase. It is also important to note that work on the outer level of influence can take more time than examinations of change on the individual and network levels.?
