What is Sufism? How does the Sufi see union with God?

What will be an ideal response?

Sufism is the mystical branch of Islam that developed in Persia. The darvish or Sufi mystic seeks to become one with God through ecstatic trance induced by dance, music, or poetry. Thus, the ecstasy of the wild, whirling dervish dance represents the path of the soul as it moves closer to God. The great Sufi poets, Sadi, Rumi, and Jami, emphasize the pursuit of the beautiful as an allegory for the pursuit of the beauty that is God.
