Describe the key assessments that are conducted in the third phase of the MAPP process

Four key assessments are conducted in the third phase of the MAPP process. The assessments are considered to be the strength and unique feature of the MAPP model and form the foundation of the process. The cumulative results of the four assessments show the gap between the community's current circumstances and their shared vision for the future. The first assessment, the Community Themes and Strengths Assessment (CTSA), is a qualitative appraisal of the community's opinions on what issues are most important. The CTSA can be scheduled to coincide with pre-established meetings such as PTA or town hall meetings or can be done through focus groups or one-on-one interviews. The second assessment is the Local Public Health System Assessment (LPHSA), which focuses on units in a community that contribute to public health services, or the local public health system. The LPHSA uses the 10 Essential Public Health Services as a guide for assessing the local public health system. The third assessment, the Community Health Status Assessment (CHSA), identifies and prioritizes the current health issues faced by the community. The data collected during the CHSA allow the MAPP committee to compare the community's status and issues with peer communities and even national statistics. The fourth and final assessment in this phase is the Forces of Change Assessment (FCA).The FCA pinpoints the forces that are currently affecting or could in the future affect the community's health and quality of life. Examples of such forces include legislation, migration, or environmental changes. The information acquired during the assessments phase becomes a resource when identifying the strategic issues in the next phase of the model.?
