Briefly describe how to use steganography for creating digital watermarks.

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: The term steganography comes from the Greek word for“hidden writing.”It’s defined as hiding messages in such a way that only the intended recipient knows the message is there.

In addition to steganography, digital watermarking was developed as a way to protect file ownership. Some digital watermarks are designed to be visible—for example, to notify users that an image is copyrighted. The digital watermarks used for steganography aren’t usually visible. For example, when viewing two files that look the same, but one has an invisible digital watermark, they appear to be the same file. Their file sizes might even be identical. However, if you run an MD5 or SHA-1 hash comparison on both files, you’ll find that the hash values aren’t equal.
