FAS is a disorder caused by drinking bythe mother in the prenatal period.
Physical – smaller than age-related peers, small brains, flattened noses, may have heart defect and
hearing loss.
Cognitive – mild MR and learning disabilities.
Socioemeotional – treated as younger as small, school and behavioral difficulties. Can only be
eliminated if mothers do not drink during pregnancy.
