A conclusion is the closing material of a speech where the speaker reviews the main points, may challenge the audience to act, and leaves the audience with a positive view of the speaker and the topic.
Following is a sample persuasive conclusion about gun control.
"Tragedies such as that occurred on the campus of Virginia Tech several years ago and more recently in the suburban Pittsburgh—where a gunman opened fire at a health club—should lead us to stand up and let our politicians hear our voices, no matter how little we think we matter. In order to release our politicians from the grips of the NRA, we must show them that we notice how they are voting on gun control measures—because we elect them, and they should be properly representing us. Please contact your local representative. Send a letter to Washington, and tell them of your disappointment with current gun laws. It is our responsibility to act" (sample provided from the text, page 329).
