Describe how social referencing could be used to help explain how a child might acquire a fear through modeling

What will be an ideal response?

Social referencing occurs when a child looks at the face of an adult (often a parent) when in a new or ambiguous situation. If mom or dads show a reaction of fear in this situation, a child might mimic (model) this response and begin to show a fear response to this situation.
