Explain the best ways to know if an oil is a pure, organic, good-quality essential oil

Indicate whether the statement is true or false

Labels on bottles may say "organic," "pure," and "natural," but the oil may, in fact, be synthetic. If the label says "fragrant oil," "perfume oil," or "aromatherapy oil," it is an indication that the oils are not pure oils and have been mixed with other substances. For example, the oil may have been diluted with vegetable oils. A good way to test for this is to place a couple drops of the essential oil onto a piece of paper. If an oily stain is left behind when the essential oil evaporates, it was most likely diluted with vegetable oil.
True essential oils will have the botanical name, not just the common name, on the label. The label will also state that it is a "pure essential oil" or "100% essential oil." If the label is not clear about this information, do not buy it.
Another way to know whether an oil is good quality or synthetic is to research the company that produces it. Find out how long the company has been in business and if it is able to back up claims of purity. The company's catalog should list the country of origin and method of extraction for each of its oils. A good supplier should be also able to produce a "Certificate of Naturalness" about any of its products. This shows the total percentage of the oil involved, a listing of the percentages and types of each additive, and if the oil is truly 100% derived from the plant source by a physical process (one of the proper methods of essential oil extraction). If the supplier is unable to do this, then practitioners should not buy those oils.
Price can also be an indication. Pure, organic oils cost more than synthetic oils or blends. Some are quite expensive. While orange, lemon, and lime may be reasonably priced, jasmine, neroli, and rose are very costly. The bottle itself can be a guide. The best quality oils will always be in dark glass bottles to protect them from sunlight. A product line of aromatherapy oils in clear glass bottles that are all the same price are most likely synthetic fragrance oils.
