How do you go about creating a pattern swatch in Illustrator?
What will be an ideal response?
Patterns do not necessarily need to be created from rectangles or squares. Any basic Illustrator object can be dragged into the Swatches panel and used as a pattern swatch for a pattern fill. For example, if you drag a circle into the Swatches panel, you will create a pattern fill of repeating circles. If you're making a pattern of just lines, that's when you need to place an unfilled, unstroked square or rectangle behind the line artwork to define the tile for the line pattern. Remember, an unfilled, unstroked square or rectangle behind any artwork crops the artwork when it's used as a pattern swatch. The following items can be used in a pattern: text, compound paths, blends, gradients, and brush strokes.
