Describe the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) and its classification system

What will be an ideal response?

The AAI is a 20-item interview protocol that requires the respondent to reflect on
attachment experiences with caregivers during childhood and adolescence. The AAI
assesses the respondent's generalized attachment representation of these experiences,
which is primarily evaluated via the participant's state of mind regarding attachment
during the interview experience. Whether the respondent brings up positive or negative
experiences with caregivers is largely irrelevant, rather, the rater focuses on "how" the
person is speaking and the quality of linguistic discourse throughout the interview.
Secure adults are individuals that can coherently and objectively discuss positive and
negative experiences with caregivers, and they appear honest throughout the interview
and value attachment in general. Insecure adults may not value attachment and display
linguistic violations throughout the interview. They may speak excessively and angerly,
may dismiss negative experiences, or contradict themselves during this experience.
