What is the difference between the Windows and Word Start screens?

The Windows Start screen is the main interface to launch applications, and it replaces the Windows 7 start button. Each application, including Word, has its own start screen where you can select a blank document or specific template to start with. Files that have already been created can also be opened from the application start screen.
