Explain the purpose of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

What will be an ideal response?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable, computerized device that automatically diagnoses a potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia. The computerized program will analyze and determine if an electric shock is necessary. If necessary, the device will give the rescuer instructions on how to proceed. Once the electric shock is delivered, the arrhythmia will cease and will allow the heart to reestablish an effective cardiac rhythm.
