The textbook identi?es ?ve guidelines to follow when composing an email. First off, you want to proofread every
message you send carefully. Also, when you receive an email that may be upsetting, allow time to pass before you
respond. Read and reread before you send your email message. We all should remember that email is not
"private." Thinking about this will help us not to send anything we wouldn't want to say in person or read later as
a kind of "record" of what we said. Another guide to avoid sending a "?ame" email is to think about whether or not
you want to communicate in email at all regarding the matter or concern. Sometimes in person is a more
appropriate channel for delivering your message. Finally, remember that sarcasm does not translate well through
emails. You can insert an emoticon to help the receiver interpret your message accurately.
