What reinforced Colleen’s interests in her heritage and in social events, according to Skinner’s theory? Give specific examples. Are they primary or secondary reinforcers? Explain.
What will be an ideal response?
Smiles, hugs and kisses from her parents and grandparents, and telling her she was a good girl when she listened to stories of her heritage all reinforced these interests, as did being elected to the Daughters of the Confederacy and her mother’s approval about Colleen’s organizing social events. Some of these are secondary reinforcers because, for the most part, we need to learn their reinforcing value.
