Briefly describe the process of immunity.
What will be an ideal response?
Immunity is the ability of the human body to accept the presence of substances that are part of the body ("self") and to attempt to eliminate substances that are foreign to the body ("nonself"). This process allows for protection from infectious diseases since the body is able to recognize invading infectious agents as foreign and proceed to eliminate the organism. Immunity is specific to the currently invading organism or to a group of organisms that are closely related to that invading agent and is usually indicated by the presence of a specific antibody to that agent.
