More young people who are interested in business are exploring social enterprise. What type of social enterprise would you create? What need would it address and what benefit would it provide?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Sample response: The social need that most interests me is providing good education for children in developing countries. Many schools lack resources; especially books for children to read on their own. My social enterprise would set up mobile libraries that would travel to remote villages and allow children to borrow books for free. I would stock the libraries with donated overstock books from publishers. The library vehicles would be donated RVs that would be refurbished as part of an automotive training program for older teens that we would also run. The business would be funded through a combination of donations and grants as well as advertising on the sides of the bookmobiles. This would be a hybrid for-profit/nonprofit organization. Our primary goal would be to help improve kids' reading skills and to open more opportunities for them. Making money would be a secondary concern.
