Government funded preschool programs are being discussed by your state legislators

If you
were to write your local representative a letter advocating for such programs using current
research as your guide, what would you say to convince them that these programs are effective
for children from poor families?
What will be an ideal response?

I would stress that children who attend quality preschools have higher IQs while they are
enrolled, are less likely to need special education, less likely to repeat a grade, more likely to graduate
from high school, and more likely to attend college. I would stress that research proves that quality
early childhood education saves money in the long run and saves human capital as well. I would
discuss what a solid investment early childhood programs are for the future.
