Describe the five stages of the therapy process, in order
What will be an ideal response?
* Stage 1 – Introduction – the client and therapist become acquainted and build rapport.
* Stage 2 – Goal-Setting – the client and therapist define the problem and its context and develop appropriate, potential intervention strategies.
* Stage 3 – Intervention – the client and therapist work together to help the client implement strategies to change dysfunctional thoughts, behaviors, and feelings.
* Stage 4 – Evaluation – the client and therapist assess the client's progress and examine any roadblocks that may have developed. New goals may be developed at this stage.
* Stage 5 – Termination/Follow-up – Although clients may reach the point that they can function well without regularly scheduled therapy sessions, follow-up sessions are needed to evaluate the maintenance of change.
