1. Nativist – inborn, present at birth; color; tracking; adequate or good perceptual Acuities; some
discrimination capabilities.
2. Empiricist – learned; occurs due to experience; research from animal deprivation studies indicates
some stimulation is necessary.
3. Interactionist – interaction between inborn and experience; discrimination ability is inborn; the
particular discriminations made are determined by the environment and experience.
