Explain the three categories of essential oil plant purity. How do these differ from each other?
What will be an ideal response?
Certified Organic: The plants are grown, harvested, and processed without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, GMOs, synthetic chemicals, or growth agents, and are free from irradiation and chemical sterilization. All certified organic materials must meet USDA organic certification requirements.
Wild harvested: These are plants gathered from their natural environment, such as woodlands, prairies, or deserts. All wild harvested items are taken to specific facilities for further processing, such as drying and package. The best facilities sign a "Wild Take Audit" to ensure that the materials are sustainably gathered with a no more than 10% take, and that the plants are reseeded or roots are left to restock native populations.
Cultivated: These are conventionally grown plants that may have been cultivated with the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and synthetic chemicals, although some are free of pesticide and organophosphate residues.
