Briefly explain the difference between mediators and arbitrators

What will be an ideal response?

In third party mediation, the mediator seeks to assist the disputants in resolving
their conflict but has no decision making power. Arbitrators, on the other hand, often
have legal authority to make decisions for conflicting parties when a decision can not be
reached in other ways. Arbitrators make formal binding decisions based on evidence
collected during initial negotiating processes (Putnam & Poole, 1987).
